Site Engineer

We are a multi-disciplined contractor with a service portfolio that covers track, trades, civils, OLE, signalling and telecoms along with trackside lighting and safety barrier fencing.

In this respect we are a forward-thinking business that has the ability to undertake large scale contract works delivering a variety of services such as structures, track drainage, earthworks and lineside infrastructure works under one umbrella.

We have established a network of offices across the whole of the UK where we pro-actively recruit from within the local community to fully support our clients on a National Basis.

We are looking for a Line Side Civils Site Engineer on a 6 month rolling contract basis. Inside IR35! Digs paid for.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Setting Out

  • Carry out and verify setting out for Cable route works, Trough routes, Concrete bases, Access roads and hardstandings, Drainage installations, Retaining structures and Highway and carriageway improvements
  • Validate site dimensions against approved construction drawings.
  • Produce and maintain as-built records.
  • Establish and maintain survey control.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with AFC drawings, Project specifications, ITPs, Network Rail standards and Client requirements
  • Undertake hold-point inspections
  • Review and maintain Concrete records, Material certificates, Test certificates, NCR records and Inspection records ( includes use of BIM 360)
  • Coordinate testing including Concrete cube testing, Compaction testing, Nuclear density testing, Plate bearing tests, Surface regularity testing etc.

Subcontractor Management

  • Supervise subcontractors undertaking rail and highway works.
  • Monitor workmanship and compliance.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow approved RAMS and permits.
  • Verify labour, plant, and materials are suitable for the task.
  • Record progress and productivity.
  • Escalate technical issues, delays, and quality concerns promptly

Rail Compliance & Site Reporting

  • Support delivery during Possessions, Isolations, Line blockages, and Adjacent line open (ALO) working
  • Verify works are delivered within planned possession timescales.
  • Attend possession planning meetings and site briefings.
  • Ensure works comply with Safe Work Packs, Task Briefings, Construction Phase Plans, Possession arrangements
  • Maintain accurate records of completed site activities
