We are supporting a major LRT infrastructure project in Ontario and are looking to appoint an experienced System Safety Manager – Civil Works to join the delivery team with an immediate start.
This is a senior, hands-on role leading system safety activities across civil works and associated systems on a large-scale mass transit project.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing and delivering all system safety and RAMS-related activities for the civil scope of works, working closely with engineering, construction, verification & validation, and external stakeholders.
The civil scope includes structures, track, guideway, stations, architecture, buildings, as well as fire & life safety systems, MEP, grounding, elevators and associated interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead system safety activities for civil works on a major LRT project
- Own and manage the Hazard Log (analysis, review, control and reporting)
- Develop Construction Safety Certification (CSCC) documentation for all certifiable elements
- Carry out detailed safety analyses in line with EN 50126 and applicable North American standards
- Interface with the End Client, Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), Designers, Construction and T&C teams
- Embed safety requirements throughout design, construction and delivery
- Monitor safety performance, risks and mitigation measures
- Ensure full compliance with project, regulatory and industry safety requirements
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Strong background in System Safety / RAMS on rail or transit infrastructure projects
- Proven experience on rail, LRT, metro or major civil infrastructure schemes
- Excellent knowledge of EN 50126 (FTA Safety Handbook experience a plus)
- Confident working with multiple stakeholders in a live construction environment
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- English fluency required (Italian considered an advantage)
