Overview
An established, internationally backed transportation infrastructure contractor is urgently seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning Integration Lead to support the delivery of a major urban Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Western Canada.
This is a critical systems role on a complex, live construction project approaching advanced testing and commissioning phases. The position requires a strong hands-on presence, deep systems integration knowledge, and the ability to drive readiness across multiple rail subsystems.
The Role
The Testing & Commissioning Integration Lead will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering System Integration Testing (SIT) across all rail systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and operationally ready handover.
You will work closely with design, construction, and T&C teams to align testing strategy with staged construction and operational readiness requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop System Integration Test (SIT) procedures
- Review project requirements and derive dynamic testing procedures involving multiple interfacing systems
- Work with design teams to develop staged testing strategies aligned with construction phases
- Review Interface Control Documents (ICDs) against design and validation requirements
- Coordinate with T&C teams to align subsystem requirements with SIT staging
- Derive system requirements from functional and operational project documentation, including:
- Operations & Maintenance Facility (OMF) functional and parametric programming reports
- Power system studies
- Operational analysis documentation
- Manage and maintain the Systems Configuration State Document
- Review operational design changes and refine validation methods based on site readiness
- Define T&C pre-requisites, manage readiness schedules, and coordinate major system SITs
- Develop and apply performance demonstration criteria
- Actively participate in on-site testing, driving readiness and execution
- Lead and oversee SIT activities including (but not limited to):
- Line-of-sight and reaction time testing
- Headway and operational speed validation
- Acceleration/deceleration testing under loaded conditions
- Dynamic testing to demonstrate RAM performance
- Degraded mode operations across Signalling, Power, Track, and Communications
- Multiple vehicle testing, harmonics, failure and rescue scenarios
- Testing against operational procedures and SOPs
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering/construction discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years’ experience on major infrastructure or rail construction projects
- Proven experience in testing and commissioning of rail transit systems, with expertise in at least one major system such as:
- Signalling
- Communications
- Power / SCADA
- Track
- Overhead catenary
- Tunnel or ventilation systems
- Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to a strong safety culture
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Ability to work safely on an active construction site, including:
- Navigating uneven terrain
- Climbing stairs and ladders
- Working outdoors in variable and extreme weather conditions
