We are a multi-disciplined contractor with a service portfolio that covers track, trades, civils, OLE, signalling and telecoms along with trackside lighting and safety barrier fencing.

In this respect we are a forward-thinking business that has the ability to undertake large scale contract works delivering a variety of services such as structures, track drainage, earthworks and lineside infrastructure works under one umbrella.

We have established a network of offices across the whole of the UK where we pro-actively recruit from within the local community to fully support our clients on a National Basis.

One of our rail clients is looking for a Line Side Civils Construction Manager in their Manchester office on a 12 month rolling contract.

your job will be

• To adhere to the company policies, processes, principles and guidelines as applicable
• Responsible for planning the project activities. This includes defining methodology for complete execution, considering timelines, resources, and deliverables. Develop a detailed schedule, outlining when each task should occur. This ensures that the project progresses smoothly and stays on track.
• Responsible for identifying and managing potential risks that could affect project execution. Construction managers conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Prioritizing safety on-site, implementing safety protocols and monitoring adherence to safety standards to prevent accidents and promote a secure working environment.
• Responsible for the submission of accurate site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable.
• Prepare, develop, and maintain project documentation, ensuring proper organization, accessibility and accuracy for future reference and audits.
• Ensure that toolbox talks, task briefs, permits and COSS briefs are carried out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts.
• Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working.
• Responsible for ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices
• Responsible for ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely off–hire.
• Coordinating the various professionals involved in the project, subcontractors and suppliers. Assigning tasks, monitoring progress and ensuring quality workmanship fall under your purview.
• Monitor and supervise sub-contractors, contract staff and direct labour for allocated site activities.
• Carry out performance reviews for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable.
• The role is one that includes site supervision and based generally in a site environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time and weekends).

Salary range

  • £500 - £550 per day
