  • Supporting Senior Engineers with complex Outside Party or PfL projects
  • Interpreting assessment and monitoring reports and coordinating specialist technical reviews when required.
  • Preparing constraints and requirements plans, feasibility and design scopes for potential development sites
  • Tracking time and cost of your jobs to aid cost recovery

Skills:

  • Ability to correctly assess risk to TfL infrastructure from various construction related activities, such as excavations, demolition works and tall building construction.
  • Ability to understand and correctly interpret Acts under which railways, highways and other transport systems were built and are operated and maintained, legal property documentation, contracts etc.
  • Ability to negotiate technical details with designers and contractors plus other parties where appropriate and not concede points critical to TfL business.
  • Ability to produce two dimensional plans using standard CAD software or in GIS format and to produce and maintain databases useful but not essential.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the TfL system, its structures, and how they function
  • Knowledge of the principles of property development, utility infrastructure delivery and related legislation including Party Wall etc. Act, Town & Country Planning Act, Access to Neighbouring Lands Act, Construction, Design & Management Regulations, Highways Act and various railway legislation.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial aspects of design and construction related works
  • Incorporated Engineer or working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, recognised international equivalent or possesses relevant knowledge and experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in Civil or Structural Engineering, or Building Services to include at least one of design, assessment, maintenance or construction of railway or highway assets or structures.
  • Experience of building relationships with and influencing internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Desirable: Experience in demolition, new construction or maintenance activities in close proximity to operational transport infrastructure.
