About Us
Salix was formed in 2003 and based at the National Wetlands Centre in Llanelli. As a result of rapid expansion, the company moved to Gower, Swansea in 2005 and created a specialist wetland plant nursery. Further expansion followed in 2006 with the creation of an additional 20 acre wetland nursery in Norfolk. Salix are now the UK's largest producer of native wetland plants and pre-established coir systems and the UK's only manufacturer of coir rolls.

Salix are founding members of the "European Soil & Water Engineering Group" (ESWEG), an organisation consisting of a European network of erosion control and bioengineering experts. This allows us to increase our knowledge base and expertise with over 1000 bioengineering projects completed collectively. ESWEG are responsible for new, innovative products within the industry and carry out extensive research and independent testing.

Salix also have exclusive UK rights to the NAG and NAG VMax3 range of erosion control products. For every individual project, Salix are committed to providing a solution led approach with a strong technical and practical support base. In the past, traditional engineering practices have relied on "hard" revetment techniques to control erosion. These "hard" techniques are expensive to construct, often unsustainable and can greatly reduce the ecological value of a site. When used correctly, bioengineering solutions can offer a cost effective and truly sustainable alternative to traditional hard engineering practices.
