A-Plant wins tube equipment contract

Plant supplier A-Plant has won the right to provide equipment for renewals work taking place on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines on the London Underground.

The five year contract, awarded by Tube Lines, will see modern tools and equipment used to modernise and maintain bridges, embankments, tunnels and cuttings on the three routes in anticipation of the 2012 London Olympics.

Rob Killen, business development manager with A-Plant, said: “We are delighted to be apopointed as a preferred supplier by Tube Lines. As the Olympics approach, the pace of work in London will increase significantly.”

He added that £60m had been earmarked for investment in new plant equipment during the coming financial year.
