Despite no longer being on the rail network, a new station in Ashby, Leicestershire has opened to demonstrate the latest advances in rail technology.Rail industry supplier Transmitton has built Ashby Park station, a mock control room, at its headquarters to show the technological development of the rail industry and the range of advanced system solutions it offers.
These include integrated station management, traction power, SCADA, network management, intelligent asset management, integrated station environmental control solutions and real-time passenger information systems.
The systems on display are already supplied, installed and in operation at King’s Cross and St Pancras stations, the Docklands Light Railway and on the East Coast Main Line.
Ian Wright, Transmitton managing director, said: "The construction of Ashby Park is another step forward and strengthens our position. It’s been ’action stations’ getting this facility up and running and we are confident it will be of real value for customers to see for themselves just how all our systems work and how they can be integrated with the rail network."
Christoph Klose, director of marketing and strategy, Siemens AG added: "Transmitton’s product portfolio complements the existing Siemens rail communication business in the UK. Ashby Park will allow visitors to see the very latest technologies literally brought to life."
