Contract for underground escalators worth £133m

A £133m, twelve year contract has been signed by Tube Lines and Kone to maintain, replace and overhaul 112 escalators on the Jubilee line.The two companies will share innovation, design, asset management and engineering experience to take a ‘whole-life’ approach to the contract.
Terry Morgan, chief executive of Tube Lines, said: “Through this contract Kone’s engineers and Tube Lines’ project managers are empowered to make the best decisions on when to maintain, renew and refurbish escalators that deliver long term performance benefits and productivity gains.”
