DVT named for Wembley

Brent sidings’ Alstom Traincare depot in Wembley, London, has had a driving van trailer named after it.
DVT number 82126 was named ‘Wembley Traincare Centre’ by Roger Richardson, a team leader at Wembley. The DVT is part of loco-hauled coaching stock, maintained and repaired at Wembley. The stock is owned by Porterbrook, operated by Virgin for Silverlink on the Northampton run.
Speaking at the ceremony Nick Waller, Traincare Centre manager said, “The work and dedication and commitment of the team at Wembley were second to none in making ready both sets for their first diagram. The heavy clean and paint of DVTs 82126 and 82127 were part of the overall program, and we are proud that they will be associated with Wembley Traincare Centre.”
Jon Veitch Head of Fleet Operations for Virgin Trains, said, “I am absolutely delighted with the support and commitment shown by the team at Wembley which has resulted in the trains achieving comparable EMU (electric multiple units) reliability.”
The DVTs have been maintained at Wembley since they were built between 1988 and 1990. Wembley had an allocation of DVTs and Loco Hauled Coaching Stock until 1995. Although Wembley continued to maintain DVTs after 1995, it wasn’t until September 2004 that the Centre had an allocation of coaching stock again with the Silverlink sets.
The Wembley team carried out the painting for both the 82126 and 82127 DVT and took just over two weeks to complete both DVTs. They have also completed some paint touch-up work on the remaining DVT fleet allocated to Wembley, which included painting the buffers gold.
