Edgar Allen acquisition completed by Balfour Beatty

31 Mar 2006

Balfour Beatty has completed the £9.5 million acquisition from Carillion of track product manufacturer, Edgar Allen.

Carillion decided to sell the company to Balfour Beatty after originally taking it on as part of its purchase of Mowlem, saying it no longer fitted their business growth plans.

Edgar Allen had sales of £25 million in 2004 and pre-tax profits of £2.1 million.

A Balfour Beatty spokesman said: “This acquisition will strengthen our position as a specialist in the design, manufacture, supply and installation of track products in the UK and overseas.”
