One of Hull trains’ first female drivers, has won the company’s Employee of The Year, 2004 award.

Thirty-year-old Lindsey Angus was presented with a commemorative shield and holiday vouchers. Rail managers selected Lindsey for the company’s top accolade for her determination, hard work and consistently high standards throughout the year. Lindsey was also nominated by her fellow staff as the Employees’ Employee of the Year.

Lindsey started her career with Hull Trains in 2000 as a catering assistant. Working her way up through the ranks she qualified in October 2004 as one of the company’s first two female train drivers, alongside colleague Claire Glenville. Lindsey had to undertake nine months of gruelling training to qualify and prepare herself for her new role as one of the country’s first long distance female train drivers.

Hull Trains’ On-Board Services Manager Katie Beckett said, ‘She has worked extremely hard over the past year to qualify as a driver and has continued, despite her training commitments, to help assist other members of the team and also volunteer to work in other departments - I am delighted that she’s won.’

Says Lindsey, ‘I was really shocked, it was totally unexpected. There is a great team atmosphere at Hull Trains, everyone works really hard and I’m very proud to have been acknowledged by winning both awards.’

Runners-up in the annual awards were Kevin Diles and Paul Halliday.
