Network Rail Gives Seal of Approval to New Leica Surveying Models

06 Sep 2005

The latest track surveying equipment from Leica Geosystems has received approval from Network Rail after meeting its strict technical standards.

Leica’s GRP1000 and GRP3000 models were rigidly assessed for their suitability for British rail engineering projects. The accreditation by Network Rail means the equipment can be used for different kinds of railway operation, surveying, construction and maintenance.

The Swiss-based company’s GRP1000 uses high precision sensors to enable the measurement of gauge, superelevation and stationing which ultimately provide detailed track co-ordinates. Leica’s GRP3000 is able to survey tunnels, bridges, platform edges, canopies, signals, overhead wire masts and even slopes and undergrowth.

Leica Geosystems provide a number of surveying products that capture, model, analyse, visualise and present spatial information in 3D, many of which are used by the rail industry.
