New Trent Valley rail bridge completed

A new £10m rail bridge for the West Coast Main Line has been completed over the river Tame in the Trent Valley.

Tame Bridge (Upmain)The bridge is part of the four-tracking project in the Trent Valley section of the WCML and will take two of the rail lines, a similar bridge carrying the other rails will be completed at a later date.

The new steel structure replaces the brick bridge which previously took trains over the river, near Comberford. The old bridge will be demolished.

Network Rail project manager Keith Riley said "This is a significant step forward. Seeing the new bridge in full use is a testament to the hard work put in by the project team"
