There are clear indications of a growing confidence in the engineering sector from the major organisations recruiting at The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition (NECR) on 6 & 7 May 2011 at the NEC, Birmingham.
GE Aircraft Engine Services, Jaguar Land Rover, JCB, Network Rail and RSA will be among an impressive list of leading employers offering exciting career opportunities at the largest engineering and construction recruitment event in the UK.
Scott Bannerman, Director of Venture Marketing Group, which organises The National Engineering & Construction Recruitment Exhibition, commented: "Speaking daily about job prospects with major engineering and construction companies across the UK and around the world, I detect increasing confidence in growth prospects in the industry. The range of organisations recruiting at the event shows that major sectors of the engineering industry, including aerospace and transport, have a positive view of expansion."
The thousands of experienced skilled professionals and graduates who visit the exhibition looking for their next step will not only find potential roles across all disciplines of engineering but also all the help and advice they need. At the Professional Development Hub visitors can meet representatives from the Engineering Council and professional engineering institutions* for advice on their career progression, and to discuss what membership of an institution involves. Following the success of its launch last year, visitors can expect to meet a much larger range of institutions as many more offer their endorsement to the event. This is open to all visitors, from graduates to experienced skilled professionals.
The exhibition also offers many valuable advisory services to help visitors to develop their careers and gain advice in their job search. Within the Careers Advice Lounge experts will offer personalised guidance on how to find the perfect job, while one-to-one consultations at the CV Clinic will give vital hints on how to produce the perfect CV. In addition, free half-hour group workshops at the Interview Clinic will give visitors individual and practical advice on how to approach an interview, and invaluable tips on what recruiters are looking for and how to demonstrate these qualities.
There are also a wide variety of free presentations throughout both days of the exhibition, offering invaluable careers advice and information on opportunities at the UK's leading engineering and construction companies. They provide insights into what recruiters are looking for, how the application process works, the company culture and how to apply.
The Women in Engineering Forum will be taking place at the NECR on 6 May 2011. Offering women at all stages of their career the chance to share experiences, make new contacts and hear about exciting new vacancies, the Women in Engineering Forum provides an invaluable networking opportunity. Places are reserved on a first come, first served basis, so arrive early to avoid disappointment!
The University Challenge gives teams of final year university students across the country the chance to compete against each other to design, build and test their inventions in a challenging task to win a prize of £750**. Watching the teams in action is both educational and entertaining! To enter a team please email necr@vmgl.com or call 020 8394 5206.
Scott Bannerman concludes: "Alongside the range of leading recruiters, the presence of even more leading engineering institutions at the Professional Development Hub confirms the NECR as the industry's most respected recruitment event.
"Engineers and construction professionals at all levels looking for opportunities and advice will discover that, by visiting this comprehensive exhibition, they can find all they need to develop their career in one place."
