Richard Goldson Joins ORR
Richard Goldson OBE has joined the board of the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) as a non-executive director. He will take up his post on 2 October. Mr Goldson is retiring from his current role as director of National Express Group responsible for regulatory affairs, competition issues and new rail business. His appointment fills the vacancy created when Chris Stokes decided not to seek reappointment at the end of his original term. Says Chris Bolt, Chairman of ORR, ‘I look forward to working with Richard. I know he will bring with him a wealth of railway knowledge which will add to the breadth of experience already reflected in the Board. He is well placed to take over from Chris Stokes, who we thank for his contribution over the past two years.’ Says Richard, ‘I am looking forward to joining the ORR Board at a particularly important time, and hope that my wide industry experience will be of value as we tackle the issues ahead.’ Mr Goldson is a career railway man, and lives in Buckinghamshire where he is a noted bell ringer at his local church. He was awarded the OBE in 1996 for services to the railway industry. The Board of the Office of Rail Regulation has five non-executives and two executive members including the Chief Executive and the Chairman. Appointments to the Board are for a fixed term of up to five years.
