Royal Accolade for ScrewFast

03 Nov 2005

ScrewFast Foundations, the St Albans-based piling specialists, have been presented with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation.

They were given a commemorative crystal rose bowl and scroll with a citation from the Queen in a ceremony at their offices, performed by Sir Simon Bowes Lyon, the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire.

ScrewFast produce a range of pile foundation structures, which literally just ‘screw in’ to the ground. They are used by Network Rail to support signals, gantries, platforms and overhead cables, requiring no concrete base or boring, with work on site done in just a few hours to minimise service disruption.

Their all-steel range of products are also used by the Highways Agency for road signs and cameras, and by telecom companies for phone masts. The structures can also be set at any angle and easily be moved between locations.

Duncan McGregor, ScrewFast’s Managing Director, said: “This is an award that has been earned by a close-knit, hard-working, highly enthusiastic group of staff. By being robust enough to take on the technology at an incipient stage, we have made the product what it is today.”

Presenting the award, Sir Simon said: “The company has come a long way very quickly, with a product that sells itself.”
