SkyBlue’s win, win scenario for rail industry, rail workforce and rail recruiter!

29 Sep 2010

Hundreds of temporary rail workers have recently completed NVQ’s which will benefit SkyBlue clients and workforces alike thanks to a massive investment in training from the specialist recruitment firm.

SkyBlue, which has recruitment offices all over the country, supplying workforces to rail projects, is the recruitment arm of Carillion plc.

Recently, 300 people across the spectrum of rail competencies have completed an NVQ Level 2 in Railway Engineering Permanent Way and Maintenance.

“This is the biggest rail training initiative SkyBlue has ever invested in,” says Peter Thompson, head of SkyBlue’s Rail division.

“Highly trained and competent rail personnel lead to enhanced labour performance for our rail clients and leads to a healthier bottom line performance. Increased knowledge and skills can also provide the industry as a whole with a reduction in accidents.”

People who have completed the training are also benefitting from receiving qualifications above the industry average. This is in line with SkyBlue’s commitment to maintaining the rail workforce for the future and ensuring a sustainable workforce.

“The more skills our workers have, the more suited they are to a variety of rail projects,” adds Peter.
“Our workers move from job to job consecutively and our clients benefit from a pool of candidates with a wealth of qualifications and experience.”

Paul Harris, Team Leader, SkyBlue Rail, added: “I found the content and structure of the course highly essential to the on-going development of my future career.”
