10 Aug 2006
Leading supplier of integrated control and asset management solutions to the rail industry, Transmitton, has been commissioned by Network Rail to upgrade the Traction Power SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) control equipment at Paddock Wood and to migrate the Slough electrical control room function to Romford ECR. The project is due for completion in 2007.The SCADA master station is fundamental for controlling and monitoring the electrification assets of the rail network. Based on a modern networking and open systems environment, it has in-built flexibility and allows for future expansion. The new dual redundant master station will be seamlessly connected with existing sub station equipment and also provides capability for renewal and expansion. A training system that simulates the operational Electrical Control Room area will be used for electrical control operator scenario training with simulated plant responses.
Transmitton account manager Annemarie Green said, " We are delighted to be working on this significant upgrade for Network Rail. Our systems are designed to be adaptable, allowing for future expansion while ensuring that operational continuity is delivered."
The highly skilled and experienced team working on this project is led by Ian Toplis, Senior Project Manager. He has a proven record of project achievements in the rail industry, including the successful management of the main sub-contracts for the East Coast Mainline.
