GB Railfreight has been giving young readers a helping hand speeding thousands of copies of the new Harry Potter novel on its way.
GBRf ran a Hogwarts haulage, 12-car special, containing thousands of editions of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, to the northwest, the northeast and Scotland in time for the mid-July launch. The train formed part of Royal Mail’s well-planned delivery of more than 500,000 editions of the book.
Steve Turner, GB Railfreight’s Commercial Manager said, “Royal Mail has been planning the logistics of the launch for many months. We were chosen to help because of our flexibility at laying on additional services. I’m delighted we are playing a role in the delivery of this ground breaking book.”
Royal Mail also used more than 150 extra trucks in addition to the train, to make sure its postmen and women could get the eagerly awaited book from 1,400 delivery offices on the Saturday, to the doors of children and adults across the UK.
