Rail Freight Account Manager
Purpose of the Role
To support the Rail Services Freight division and the Head of Rail Freight Logistics. Managing client expectations, costs, profitably and delivery of key contracts achieved through an ability to communicate effectively and to monitor business in depth with a view to further potential business development.

Key Accountabilities
- First point of contact for our established Commercial freight clients
- Effective and precise Account Management of Commercial Freight clients by working closely with internal Commercial, Finance, Rostering and Planning departments
- Manage and maintain relevant information to support all internal commercial and financial departments for financial cost control
- Review and check revenue/applications for payment and invoices as appropriate
- Cost management of resources in line with commercial freight flows e.g. labour, hotels, taxis, fuel & Traction and Rolling Stock leases and hires.
- Work closely with internal finance department to manage cash flow of contracts including cash receivable from clients and payments due to suppliers.
- Bid and Contract review as part of any contract retention or potential business development
- Identify and implement cost savings with Planning, Engineering and Operations Managers
- Assist with the sales pipelines to ensure opportunities are appropriately managed
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
- Prepare presentation packs and attend customer review meetings.
Person Specification
The job holder will have:
- A thorough knowledge of contract delivery and cost control administration.
- Organizational ability with proven communications and motivation skills. Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Ability to express views and explain concepts to clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- Good and proven negotiating skills
- A comprehensive understanding of contract reporting methodology including an in depth commercial and financial performance management.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to constantly improve standards.
- Flexibility and ability to travel extensively throughout the UK to maintain client relationships
