GIS Analyst in London, United Kingdom

I am currently recruiting for a GIS Analyst to join a rail organisation in either London or Birmingham on a permanent basis.

** Please note the salary on this advert is for London. Max salary for Birmingham is £43,355 per annum (including a 15% flex fund). Other salary expectations may be considered **

This role will support the organisation in the form of GIS data management and all related activities. The role requires strong GIS skills across many disciplines for design, construction and operations and maintenance. The post holder will be working within the Digital Engineering team supporting delivery functions and interfacing with suppliers across information types (graphical, non-graphical and geospatial). The role will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on GIS data management such as data production, content publishing, and compliance of data quality & assurance processes.  

**This role will not require the postholder to create a lot of data sets, however you will need skills to be able to make sure data sets have been created properly and use best GIS practices. You will need to know how to deal with technical issues, even if youre not the ones solving them**

Main duties of the role include: 
  • Responsibility for reporting data quality issues and analysis of root causes to the Digital Engineering Team and Suppliers, with particular focus on GIS data.
  • Responsibility for compliance, of data created, with Digital Engineering standards, specifications and operating procedures.
  • Responsibility for developing and delivering training and support to relevant business functions, Delivery Teams and Suppliers regarding company standards, specifications, tools and operating procedures.
  • Responsibility for identifying areas for improvement and feedback into information requirements, specification development and standards creation through appropriate governance channels.
  • Contributing to the management of the companys Common Data Environment and governance of information, with a particular focus on GIS data.
Skills required: 
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Data assurance techniques and assurances
  • Data specialism in GIS data and modelling
  • Communication skills to support training and upskilling
 Knowledge required:
  • Knowledge of GIS and its applications
  • Technical knowledge of dealing with issues
  • Esri experience / exposure
  • ARC GIS Suite of softwares
Type of experience required
  • Data management, and data quality & assurance experience throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Experience of working with open formats to enable data interoperability and encourage a software agnostic approach.
  • Experience of raising awareness of Digital Engineering, delivering briefing sessions and providing support throughout an organisation and its supply chain.
  • Experience of working within set standards, processes and systems but with an expectation to contribute to decision making on process improvement.
