Due to my clients continued growth they are currently seeking a Modelling Analyst to join their capacity planning team in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to shape their own future.

The Capacity Planning team develop innovative solutions to optimise available rail network capacity. Using the latest techniques in train planning and performance analysis they continue to support major projects and changes to the national rail timetable. Through excellent understanding of project requirements and robust reporting, they successfully support exciting programmes of work that both meet and exceed the client’s requirements.

The successful candidate will be providing support to the team and the wider organisation to provide expert understanding of current rail simulation modelling and how this could support other areas of the business, you will be joining a team of passionate and dedicated professionals working together on both challenging and innovative projects.

Principal duties

Performing timetable and performance modelling analysis

Providing innovative solutions in assessing rail capacity using rail simulation techniques

Calculation of timetable planning rules and sectional running times

Understanding the relationship between rolling stock, infrastructure and simulation

Producing timetable capacity reports

Supporting infrastructure projects through simulation of signalling proposals

Ad hoc project reporting

Essential skills

Rail Simulation Modelling experience;

Industry standard rail simulation software experience;

Knowledge of rail signalling and rail Operations and how they are simulated in modelling tools;

Good analytical skills;

Excellent level of general computer literacy;

Good written and verbal communications skills;

Excellent organisation and time-management;

High attention to detail

Desirable skills

Understanding of timetable planning and associated rules and standards

Degree level education
