Business Development / Pre-contract Manager

We are looking for an experienced Business Development / pre-contract Manager to join our rapidly expanding team, we are experiencing significant growth following a recent acquisition by Australia’s largest privately owned Civil Engineering Contractor, meaning we have even more ambitious growth plans for 2023 and beyond.
This is a new role within the business, so it’s a huge opportunity for the right person to have a lot of autonomy and take ownership, the role reports to our Managing Director and is responsible for coordinating our business development, tendering, development of competitive submissions, supporting and coordinating of our business development activity, identification of new markets, clients and business opportunities, together with the pre-contract mobilisation of new contracts.
You'll also work with our Marketing team on event opportunities to help boost tusp’s visibility in the market and continuously build our brand identity.
You will be responsible for preparing and writing the detailed technical and commercial documents, such as pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and tenders. You will require excellent organisational skills, this is a crucial role within tusp to further strengthen our work winning.
Formulate and agree bid and win strategies with senior management to secure profitable orders;
- Form relationships with the customer to develop clear understanding of their requirements to enable development of our proposition;
- Oversee and lead the preparation, coordination and delivery of presentations to customers as required, to successfully communicate our proposals
- Attendance at key customer meetings and industry events
- Oversee the establishment, production and implementation of bid management processes;
- Develop technical expertise to differentiate tusp from our competition
The role involves the following duties:
- Analysing the tender document to understand the needs of the client
- Planning bid preparation to ensure that deadlines are met
- Liaising with other team members to agree bid details
- Preparing case studies and other reference materials
- Editing or rewriting previous tenders to reuse relevant material
- Collating materials provided by various team members and ensuring a uniform tone across the overall document
- Ensuring that the bid is accurate and delivered on time.
Required skills include:
- Excellent technical knowledge of the Construction Industry
- Is a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Is a self-starter who can manage their own time and proactively seeks and executes activities that will add value
- Pays attention to detail and will see tasks through to completion
- Strong commercial acumen
- Good report writing skills;
- Ability to use your initiative
- Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
