Job Title: Fleet Development Engineer
Location: Manchester
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £20-£24 per hour
Recruiting for a Fleet Development Engineer to work on a contract basis for a leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock Industry.
Purpose of the role
- Using available data sources, analyse the performance of the various R&I fleets, with the view to develop and implement performance improvement measures.
- Using the available resources, develop and implement processes with a view to constantly monitor and improve the Fleet Management & Performance Group ways of working to maximise efficiency.
- Provide Technical Support in the form of performance and process advice to other areas of the business as required.
- Support the Fleet Performance & Process Manager in his role
- Development of Fleet improvements to reduce cost and enhance customer experience
Responsibilities
- Using available data sources, analyse the performances of the various R&I fleets.
- React to short-notice anomalies in performance (incidents), by providing data, analysis and advice as required.
- Responsible for the in-service delay (SAF) attribution process
- Responsible for the production of fleet performance KPIs.
- Responsible for the production of fleet performance reports for internal and external use.
- Communicate with Asset Owners (ROSCOs) and Fleet Operators (TOCs) to ensure the needs of the customer are being met.
- From analysis of available data, identify system performance failings.
- Liaise directly with Technical Services group on system performance issues.
- Determine Technical Services group priorities based on impact / benefit to fleet performance.
- Responsible for the translation of system performance failings into tangible improvement plans with supporting business cases.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and documentation of performance improvement measures.
- Develop and monitor approved improvement opportunities to clearly show the impact on fleet performance during embodiment.
Education Requirements
HNC / HND / Degree level education in Data Analysis / Mathematics / other engineering discipline or equivalent experience
Desire knowledge/experience
- Rolling stock operations/maintenance.
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
- Performance improvement and reliability growth methods
- Problem solving tools e.g.- 8D, DMAIC, 6 Sigma
- Project management (or technical project management).
- Strong & confident communication and interpersonal skills
