The role of Training & Development Manager will give you an executive position on the Railways Division management team with responsibility for learning and development and organisational development within the context of the Division, Unit and Group Business plans.
You will build strong relationships with stakeholders to provide the best training and development advice and guidance to approx. 300 employees and their line managers.
In this job you will develop and deliver the annual training budget forecast and plan and be responsible for employee engagement; career development planning; talent management and succession planning; coaching and mentoring; graduate recruitment; graduate training; management and leadership development; internal communications The Bit about you The main purpose of this role is to develop and retain the workforce to meet the changing needs of the market and help to grow a sustainable business. This will include identifying and delivering training and development requirements to take the business forward and working closely with the Early Careers team to support the recruitment and development of entry level professionals.
Essential Education
You will support the recruitment and induction of entry level professionals and provide them with training and development to achieve professional qualifications/chartership. This also includes recruiting, training, and managing institution mentors.You will support the business by monitoring employee satisfaction, thereby identifying and addressing issues. You will provide “one to one” career development planning and coaching, effective induction for new employees and transition support for role changes.Internal communications planning and delivery will be part of your job and you will work with colleagues to create external award entries.

Essential Education
- Degree or relevant qualification and experience.
- Chartered with membership/fellowship of relevant professional institution (CIPD or CMI)
- Psychometric profiling qualifications, BPS Level A and B or similar would be advantageous
- Demonstrable track record of successful HR/L&D project management and achievement of targets
- Knowledge and experience of development of professional engineers/consultancy would be an advantage
- A passion for learning and development
- Experience of high quality, impactful design
- Excellent delivery and facilitation skills
- Ability to use technology for delivery
- Ability to build internal and external networks to secure internal speakers, SMEs and guest speakers
- Highly motivated and a self-starter
- Project and budget planning skills
