Dutton Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Buyer based in Doncaster
The Role:
- In conjunction with the Category Manager, develop and execute the procurement Category Strategy, including sourcing activities to achieve the overall category strategy in line with company objectives
- For a significant portfolio of Suppliers, Develop, implement and systematically review a supplier category development plan to deliver agreed business objectives utilising Supplier relationship matrix
- Undertake the purchasing process from cradle to grave for all the products within the supplier portfolio in accordance with company procedure and practices to ensure required availability of product at lowest total cost
- Ensure that you maintain accurate SAP master data for your portfolio of suppliers to ensure timely bid responses to meet customer deadlines and to maximise new business winning opportunities and growth
- Preparation and issue of pre-tender and tender documents, Evaluate tenders and determine supplier selection to support Bid development and implementation in support of business growth
- Ability to articulate business strategy and obtain supplier engagement and buy-in to shared objectives
- Using best practice and UW tools undertake Supplier Engagement meetings to improve business competitiveness and customer service, acting as Supplier Champion for suppliers in own portfolio on the programme.
- Manage and develop good supplier relationships identify joint new business winning opportunities to support mutual business growth and implement appropriate supplier agreements
- Effectively communicate and manage Fleet withdrawal impact and its suppliers, maximising any ‘last time buy’ opportunities whilst maintaining service levels and availability to customers
- Identify and improve on variations (to plans, partnership programme, etc.) as they arise to ensure the business can direct appropriate corrective action and resources.
- Expand on product and market knowledge relating to portfolio of categories and suppliers and become the procurement expert
- Advocate of the company Way and Tools used to deliver CI. Supporting the processes that interface with internal stakeholders.
The Candidate:
- Excellent communication, relationship and inter-personal skills
- Strong data analytical and problem solving skills
- Flexible and willing, desire to exceed targets set
- Keen to learn all aspects of supply chain Management
- Recognised procurement professional or relevant work experience (min 2 years)
- Experience of developing and implementing Category strategies and supplier plans
- Proven experience of senior level negotiation
- Excellent Supplier Development and relationship management skills
- Ability to articulate procurement strategy, obtain buy-in and align to suppliers strategy
- Experience in managing tenders, bids, including ITTs
- Strong commercial acumen
- Experience in negotiating, implementing and managing contracts
- Effective time & deadline management and prioritization skills
- Ability to conduct effective meetings
- Ideally Graduate Calibre or relevant work experience
- Good track record of promoting a team culture & cross functional working
- Good product and proposition knowledge
- Ability to plan and execute plans
