Ford & Stanley Recruitment- The Rail Recruitment Experts are looking for an experienced Strategic Buyer to work for our prestigious rail client based in Buckinghamshire.

As a growing organisation the company are going through a restructure of their procurement strategy and are moving towards a model of strategic buyers, who will be involved in developing relationships with the suppliers and reproducing the company strategy for purchasing.

The goal is to find the best suppliers in the market and what they can offer, as well as controlling the cost by saving the organisation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work for a prestigious high value client in the rail industry, developing those strong relationships with many of the suppliers and being creative in the solutions they can deliver.

This role will be engaging, purposeful and influential.

Location: Buckinghamshire

Key Responsibilities

• Becoming an expert in your assigned commodities, maintaining knowledge of market and industry trends, developing technologies and alternative sourcing options
• Drive for personal development within procurement
• Building partnerships with key suppliers, undertaking regular business reviews
• Working closely with project teams to address emerging issues and act as an escalation point
• Actively seeking cost savings and contributing to a cost savings database
• Anticipating and actively managing risk within the supply chain
• Negotiation and contract management. Ensuring a value-based, life-cycle approach to sourcing and supplier selection
• Offering key support for emerging bids to the Commercial team
• Management of the mobilisation phase of projects
• Managing and reporting on key KPIs. Actively monitoring material spend versus budget for projects

The Candidate

• Experienced in a strategic procurement role within a rail or manufacturing environment
• Capable of autonomous working as well as team collaboration
• Able to show initative
