We are currently expanding in the UK and Ireland, growing our business and our team. One of the exciting projects the BIM Coordinator will work on relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract, within our partnership with The Midlands Metro Alliance. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).

Job description
The BIM Coordinator will play a key role in implementing the design and delivery process as well as playing an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, supporting the design team.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- Liaise with the BIM Manager/Performance Manager as required regarding the update and maintenance of the BIM Model from a design integration perspective.
- Ensure BIM processes and protocols (including 2D and 3D clash detection) are shared and used by all Design Teams to meet BIM requirements on projects.
- Ensure the timely and accurate production of design information and related deliverables to meet BIM requirements on projects.
- Lead Clash Detection meetings.
- Develop and maintain the Master Clash Registers and actions required.
- Review and follow-up closure of actions from the Clash Registers and advise Project Director/Design Lead where progress of other Design Teams closing out their issues is threatening the overall design.
- Attend IDC/IDR meetings ensuring relevant members of design teams are invited.
- Assist Design Leads or other managers by monitoring the progress of receipt of information from other design teams against the design program. Where necessary remind the other design teams of the requirement to provide information as per the agreed programme and standards.
- Ensure all BIM outputs are produced to a high standard.
- Provide information to the Project Director/Design Lead on integration issues that need to be progressed in design packages.
- Acting as a technical interface with Egis Rail IT support services for the Project infrastructure toolset - evaluate software and hardware needs for deliverables. Support business case for new software proposals.
- Develop and assist continual improvement of a content BIM library suitable for the various Disciplines.
- Supporting the Project Director/Design Lead in the delivery of digital outputs within project teams and the seamless sharing of information with other discipline teams.
- At task level management and of BIM model, represent Egis Rail/key stakeholders in liaising with clients, third-party stakeholders, and other consultants involved with a project.
- Develop and maintaining excellent team relationships through successful project execution.
- Assisting in the preparation of technical and commercial bid proposals, supporting the Bid Team in responding to the EIR, producing MIDP, TIDP and BEPs etc.
- Cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team / Discipline Leads / all internal parent companies / Client’s organisation within a project team through all stages of design.
- Chair and manage BIM related meetings, capturing and articulating relevant actions.
- Other duties to be performed as assigned.
Skills, experience and qualifications
- A degree or diploma in a relevant subject, e.g., engineering, infrastructure.
- It would be advantageous to be a member of a relevant professional body, e.g., IET.
- Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes.
- A railway or light rail background would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Good understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation
- Experience of using REVIT, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Synchro, Topodot and/or other similar software.
- A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates
- Experience in the successful management of the infrastructure design elements of projects preferable but not essential.
- Experience and understanding of multidisciplinary design processes at high standards.
- An excellent knowledge of BIM processes and products and the ability to implement production and use of 3D multi-disciplinary modelling on projects is highly important.
- Ability to use modelling and analytical tools to demonstrate reduction and/or elimination of health and safety risks in the design process.
- Developing and maintaining BIM protocols (and ensuring they are adhered to) and BIM Execution Plans and other related documentation.
- Co-ordinating stakeholders in terms of their role within the BIM.
- Technical management of project BIM data sets.
- Ensuring the accuracy of models and datasets by establishing quality control.
- Clash detection and clash avoidance.
- Preparing BIM co-ordination programmes and progress reports.
- Providing training and assistance to the project team and explaining procedures and standards.
- Sourcing and maintaining model.
- Where there are shared data and inter-model relationships, making sure these are recorded and monitored.
- Co-ordinating data modelling and management.
- Liaising with the design team and client.
- Coordinating the handover of information at project milestones.
- Other reasonable duties relating to management and use of the BIM environment.
