BIM Technician in Swindon, South West, United Kingdom
Our Transportation team currently has a vacancy for a Senior CAD/BIM Technician with experience of Civil and Structural working within our Rail Sector. AECOM are currently expanding their CAD & BIM team in our Swindon office following a number successful project wins.
The successful candidate will be experienced in using the industry standard CAD/BIM applications and will have a proven record of delivering to quality, time and budget. They will have experience working as part of project teams developing a range of Rail and Bridge engineering scheme solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation. This will include the modeling of designs in a BIM environment utilizing Autodesk Revit and/or Bentley products. The role would suit a self motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. The Successful Candidate will have to opportunity to enhance and develop their Software skills using our Technology partners learning and training courses which are available to AECOM employees.
Office overview:
Our Swindon office has an established track record of successfully delivering transportation projects throughout the South West, nationally and around the world.
Our office in the heart of Swindon, has good transport links and accommodates a multi-disciplinary transport design centre. Our modern office is set up for flexible working with the successful candidate provided with a lap-top and software that facilitates flexible working which we encourage. Whilst the main working location will be Swindon, the role will be to support in both Swindon and Bristol. There will therefore be some occasional travel required to these offices.
Projects:
Our current workload has a great variety of rail projects including large multidisciplinary projects (HS2 Old Oak Common Depot enabling works) and new built (new stations in the West Midlands). We are also greatly involved in rail renewals as we are part of the S/C Alliance.
Project Accountabilities:
- Supported by the Digital Lead for Rail take responsibility for initial project CAD/BIM set-ups including liaising with clients and architects regarding CAD protocols and standards.
- Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients and contractors on CAD and BIM matters as appropriate.
- Liaise and support our global design teams on project CAD and BIM matters as appropriate.
- Maintain CAD/BIM Standards and processes.
- Attend and drive BIM software in design coordination and Design Review Project Team.
- Be conversant with BS1192 relevant standards and guidance associated with delivering in a BIM environment to Level 2.
- Produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure, using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley or Autodesk.
- Maintain CAD/BIM software on the project.
- Responsible for checking of models, details and schedules and quality expectations.
- Manage Project CAD/BIM Technicians on projects.
- Works under limited supervision performing complex technical work.
- Duties may include technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.
- Takes lead role in work-flow coordination.
Minimum Requirements
- You will have a minimum experience of using Autodesk and/or Bentley products.
- Ability to produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure.
- Working within a ProjectWise Common Data Environment experience is highly desirable but training can be provided on this.
- AECOsim experience is highly desirable but training can be provided on this.
- RC detailing experience is preferable.
- Understanding and working use of BS1192:2007
- Experience with Bentley ProjectWise would be a plus
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
