CAD/BIM Technician in Glasgow, United Kingdom
AECOM is the world's premier infrastructure consultancy and we work on multi billion pound projects all over the globe. Due to multiple bid wins we have a vast array of work in our rail business. We are therefore looking to recruit a CAD/BIM Technician with experience of Civil and Structural to work within our Rail Sector in our Glasgow office.
The successful candidate will be experienced in using the industry standard CAD/BIM applications and will have experience working as part of project teams developing a range of Rail and Bridge engineering scheme solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation. This will include the modelling of designs in a BIM environment utilising Bentley products. The role would suit a self motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. The Successful Candidate will have the opportunity to enhance and develop their Software skills using our Technology partners learning and training courses which are available to AECOM employees.
Office Overview:
You will be joining our Civil Engineering team within our Rail division based in the AECOM Glasgow office where we work on a wide variety of projects ranging from smaller improvement works to projects of national importance. We are looking for ambitious Senior Technicians who are keen to further develop their careers at one of the world’s leading design consultancies.
Job Accountabilities:
- Provide CAD/BIM support and mentoring to Apprentice Technicians.
- Maintain an overview of developments in CAD/BIM technologies, relevant BIM standards and Codes of Practice.
- Able to work independently on any project type.
- Comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and increase own awareness of Health and Safety procedures.
Project Accountabilities:
- Supported by the Project CAD/BIM Manager assist in initial project CAD/BIM set-ups including using project CAD/BIM protocols and standards.
- Supported by the Project CAD/BIM Manager liaise with internal and external design teams, on CAD and BIM matters as appropriate.
- Initiating and continuing to completion any size project either independently or with support from the Project CAD/BIM Manager in larger projects.
- Be conversant with BS1192 relevant standards and guidance associated with delivering in a BIM environment to Level 2.
- Produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure, using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley and Autodesk.
- Prepare RC and steelwork details as required.
- Prepare drainage and earthworks details as required.
- May be required to Manage Apprentice Technicians on projects.
- Works under limited supervision performing complex technical work.
- Duties may include technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.
Minimum Requirements
- You will have minimum experience of using Bentley products.
- Ability to produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure.
- Working within a ProjectWise Common Data Environment experience is highly desirable, but training can be provided on this.
- You will have good technical and communication skills along with experience of undertaking a range of Transportation engineering related projects.
- Understanding and working use of BS1192:2007
