Role: CAD Technician/Manager (MX + Civil 3D)

I am looking for a technical expert in AutoCAD, MX and Civil 3D to work on a contract basis for an international consultancys Southampton office. The firm are looking for someone who is capable of conducting a range of technical modelling/drawing with an appreciation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) process and integration using MX and Civil 3D software, whilst also overseeing other technicians. The workload is mainly large infrastructure focused, with a range of highways and airport design. As such, knowledge of highway/airport standards is highly desirable.

The role is to support the Design Team Leader by managing a team of other technicians, ensuring they are meeting the required technical accuracy and efficiency targets. Further, the ability to train others in the correct use of MX/Civil 3D would be highly advantageous.

Ideally, candidates will have achieved IEng (Incorporated Engineer) status via the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) or have extensive, demonstrable experience.

Further to significant expertise in AutoCAD, MX and Civil 3D, the ability to advise in the use of MicroDrainage is highly desirable, but not a prerequisite for this role.

As this is a senior post, on top of personal technical capabilities, responsibilities will also include reporting of budgets, attending client meetings, ensuring technicians are meeting targets and mentoring juniors/apprentices.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a world-renowned consultancy on a broad range of highways and airport projects. Progress will be reviewed after the initial 3-month period, with the opportunity to extend if projects are progressing well.

Job Requirements:

• Highly experienced in MX software
• Highly experienced in AutoCAD / Civil 3D software
• Ability to manage BIM processes and promote its use
• Experienced in WinDes MicroDrainage (Desirable)
• Ability to lead, manage and train team in MX/AutoCAD/Civil 3D/MicroDrainage
• IEng status (ICE/CIHT) or relevant experience
• Highways / Airport design experience to relevant standards
• Budget/timeline/KPI reporting
• HNC/HND or similar education
