Title - Civil Infrastructure Technician

I'm working on behalf of an international civil, structural residential/commercial development consultancy in the Wigan area. The Company prides itself on delivering innovative and commercial construction and infrastructure engineering solutions on a very wide range of projects across the business sector spectrum. There delivery teams comprise of professionally qualified engineers of both disciplines and the company is committed to developing its skill base by employing people who are passionate about their careers, thrive on responsibility and committed to exceeding client's requirements. With an extensive client list comprising of many leading construction companies, national development companies, institutional investors and other household names.

The office currently stands at around 20 technical staff, with the Civils team being only 9; they are looking to expand in the next coming of months by employing the right technician to help carry and deliver the infrastructure schemes successfully. They work along with most of the household names in the residential sector, delivering up to 400 residential plot units at a time. They work with residential housebuilders all over the UK with many clients being based in Merseyside / Cumbria / North West / Bristol and London, some scheme down south consist of homes worth over £5million.
I am currently looking for a competent technician for their busy civil engineering team, based in their newly modernised Wigan office. It is essential that the candidate will be capable of working well within a team environment. They will have excellent mathematical and technical skills, an up to date knowledge of the relevant software and standards to produce quality detailed drawings / designs, ensuring that engineering solutions produced comply with current design and construction standards, applicable legislation and client expectations; and are delivered in accordance with the agreed timescales.

Civil engineering design and drafting functions will be primarily in the field of highways, drainage, utilities and earthworks and specific experience of the following is desirable:
3D site modelling and road design using PDS design suite
S38/S278 highway design to Manual for Streets and Design Manual for Roads & Bridges
Volumetric Assessment
Drainage design for Private and Adoptable Systems (Strategy and Layout, Hydraulic Calculations)
General Detailed Drawing using AutoCAD 2014
Undertaking Statutory Authority Searches & Liaison
General Reporting and Correspondence
Construction Specifications
Risk Assessments

You must have at least 3 years experience working in a UK consultancy working on similar schemes. It is vital that you have experience and exposure to similar schemes with experience on Civils 3D and possibly microdrainage but this is only desirable. In house promotions are common with this consultancy and they are keen for the right candidate to come in, grow and progress with them and push their own business ideas. Civils 3D is vital and needed for this role.
