Electronic CAD Engineer.
Pay: £500 per day (Inside ir35)
Location: Eastleigh.
Contract: 3 months
The contractor reports to the Engineering Manager Product Development and requires a high level of interaction with the Embedded Software Team.
Job Purpose:
This role is to work as part of a team to design and develop electronics hardware for next generation products as part the companies vehicle and track Condition Monitoring System. The role is to develop hardware designs for Wired and Wireless Sensor Nodes and Monitoring Control Units.
The role will be based at the companies office in Eastleigh moving to a hybrid office/home working environment once agreed with managers on site. Office attendance is required for design and planning meetings and configuration of physical hardware.

Principle Responsibilities/Duties:
- To design and development of new electronics from concept through to mass production under supervision of senior colleagues.
- To produce power-efficient, high-reliability designs consistent with the target market for the companys products.
- To take ownership of and manage Electronic Design Data
- PCB Designs
- Component Libraries
- Bills of Materials
- Manufacturing Documentation
- Conform to hardware development processes and quality assurance.
- Assist with the technical support of existing products with respect to manufacturetest and returns investigation.
- To support other departments e.g. Firmware/Software/Test with product development and qualification.
General:
- Support and follow company procedures and processes.
- Take advantage of staff development opportunities and periodic performance reviews in accordance with terms and conditions specified by the company.
- Undertake other reasonable duties at the request of the line manager.
- Other duties and responsibilities express and implied which arise from the nature and character of the post within the department (or section) mentioned above or in a comparable post in any of the Organisations other sections or departments.
- At least 2 years experience working in an Electronics Design role.
- Schematic Capture and PCB Design using Altium Designer or similar ECAD package.
- A highly organised approach to the management of design data such as component libraries.
- Working knowledge of analogue and digital circuit principles including power management.
- Working knowledge of digital communications buses (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN etc.)
- Experience of designing low power embedded systems using ARM Cortex M based Microcontrollers e.g. STM32.
- Assist with test and design for compliance to EMC and Environmental requirements.
- Experience of Design for Test and Design for Manufacture.
- Debug using oscilloscope and spectrum analyser.
- Knowledge of 2D/3D mechanical CAD Software preferably AutoCAD Inventor.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Analytical problem-solving ability.
- Hands on approach to solving problems in a calm and effective manner.
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate levels of documentation requirements capture, test specifications, release documentation, etc.
- Ability to work in partnership to achieve results and consider wider business implications.
- Ability to gather information from multiple database sources, to analyse and present conclusions.
- Ability to work without supervision and exhibit initiative.
- Ability to carry responsibility and understand the need for and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
- Must be self-motivated and target driven with a Can Do attitude.
- Ability to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
