We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced PWAY Maintenance Technician to join a major rail client based in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the permanent way infrastructure to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our rail services. While prior light rail experience is preferred, candidates with a background in Network Rail (NR) maintenance will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance activities on the permanent way infrastructure, including track, switches, crossings, and associated components.
- Perform repairs and adjustments to track components as necessary, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Identify and address defects, faults, and hazards promptly to minimize service disruptions and ensure passenger safety.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment to carry out maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and optimize workflow.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and materials used.
- Adhere to relevant health and safety regulations and procedures at all times to promote a safe working environment.
- Assist with emergency response and recovery efforts in the event of track incidents or operational disruptions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in PWAY maintenance within the rail industry, preferably with exposure to light rail systems.
- Knowledge of track maintenance techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations, including those set by Network Rail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
