A short-term vacancy has arisen for a Measurement Technician within the Measurement Services Team.
The Measurement Services Team provide a variety of measurement services for both internal and external customers on rail infrastructure across the UK.
This role is for a Measurement Technician/Surveyor, the project that the individual will be working on will be undertaking the following service:
- Gauging surveys across the UK using a variety of industry standard systems or propriety technology
The Measurement Technician will undertake gauging surveys as directed by the Measurement Services Team.
The individual will ideally have knowledge of Network Rail Safety requirements for undertaking all site activities whilst on the railway infrastructure, though training will be provided.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead a small team undertaking structure gauging surveys across Network Rail Infrastructure
- Assist with the completion of all survey projects in a conscientious and professional manner
- Assist with the production of survey data and reports to meet project deliverables
- Able and willing to work unsocial hours (night shifts) and weekends where required
The candidates should ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- Experienced in the safety activities on Network Rail Infrastructure or similar
- A-levels or equivalent qualifications. Preferred but not essential
- An understanding of the LaserSweep measurement system, though training will be provided
- The use of a track gauge
- Experience in measuring track curvature with a versine kit
- Ideally have the Network Rail Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence
- Computer literate with experience in the Microsoft Office software environment (Word and Excel)
The candidate should ideally have the following safety or infrastructure competencies:
- Network Rail PTS competence
- First Aid
Candidate should also hold a current holder of UK driver’s license
