Technician
Location: North WestWhat is the purpose of this role?
To act as a Technician in the assessment of rail structures to ensure: -
- Delivery of all the specified assessments tasks on time, within budget and to Network Rail, Highway and other relevant standards.
- Provide support to Senior Technician and Civil Engineers.
- Compliance with Company and Network Rail management process and systems.
- Ensure the highest standards of safety.
What will this role involve?
You should have a broad range of skills in assessment in concrete, metallic, timber and masonry. Strong technical knowledge foundation and delivery focus is a must, with the potential and drive to develop further in these areas. The experience you have in rail will be ideal. Highway experience is also welcome.
Engineering
Services comprise: -
- Assisting with rail structure assessments for depots, footbridges, canopies, underbridges, overbridges, undercrofts
- Assist with preparation of technical assessment reports and drawings
- Assist with preparation for and undertaking of site work to carry out inspection for assessments and inspection/examination of assets
- Maintain high technical standards, consistent with the project brief and in accordance with relevant standards and HSEQ documentation
- Support the delivery of services on other contracts
- Support the project team in the preparation of cost estimates and subsequent successful delivery of commissions to programme, within budget and to the client’s requirements
Management and Commercial
Services Comprise: -
- As required, assist in planning, programming, cost control and administration of contracts
- Provide updates on progress of own tasks
- Support the preparation of bids on other contracts
- Support and supervise less experienced team members
What are we looking for?
- HNC / HND in relevant Civil / Structural discipline or equivalent levels of qualifications to satisfy Technician Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, TechEng MICE, or aiming towards becoming a member
- 2+ years’ experience
- Computer literate and conversant with AutoCAD and relevant engineering software packages
- Rail site experience and competence to inspect structures whilst working at height
Essential experience skills
- Technical knowledge
- Familiarity with Network Rail structure assessment standards CIV025, CIV035
- Use of AutoCAD
- Experience in all major materials
- Driving Licence - Full valid and clean
- Eligible to work and reside in the UK
- Computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite
- Good written and oral communication and organisational skills
