Recruiting for Technicians to work on a long-term modification project, working for a leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock Industry based in Widnes, Cheshire. The role is initially due to run up until June 2024 with opportunities for extension.
Responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities will include;
• Being part of, and providing technical support to the Widnes facility team in the way of undertaking testing activity, fault finding expertise and assistance with train modernisation and repair activities.
• Carry out Testing & Re-Commissioning activities on vehicles and trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures.
• Carry out fault finding and investigate faults on vehicles
• Investigate technical problems arising from the fleet modernisation / repair activities at Widnes Technology Centre
• Provide technical assistance to the SOM and Technical Manager to resolve service problems, implement and support modifications, special checks and experiments.
• Assist with the preparation of locally produced SSOW's /technical instructions and provide technical advice in connection with modifications, special checks and experiments.
• Provide technical support to the Production Teams in the form of provision of fault –finding
• Form part of a multi-disciplined team and willing to carry out a range of duties including non-train duties to deliver customer contractual requirements fault-finding expertise and assistance with examination and repair activities.
• Liaise with depots, customers and specialist engineers as necessary to resolve technical problems with procedures, materials, component problems modifications and experiments
• Liaise with Safety Team and provide detailed reports of system performance when requested.
Key Requirements:
• An Engineering qualification such as HNC Electrical / Electronic or Level 4 Rail Engineering, minimum level 3 electrical qualification
• Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern Electric Multiple Units.
• Technical experience and expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• IT skills – competent user of a Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail and intranet
