Site Trackbed Technician in Nottingham, East Midlands, United Kingdom
We are looking for Trackbed Technicians join our Trackbed team within the Rail division in Nottingham with Aecom. The team is part of a multi-disciplinary Asset Management group and provides a range of services to rail clients across the UK and occasionally the globe. The team has worked under a number of Framework type contracts for rail infrastructure owners and is currently in contract with Network Rail in the UK, with a secured pipeline of work which is driving the need for recruitment. We positively encourage diversity within the team, as such all flexible and part time working requests will be considered. As a Tracked Site Technician you will have the following responsibilities:
- Plan, manage. lead and supervise teams undertaking detailed site investigations in the railway environment using a range of investigation techniques in association with our Project Managers, Operations teams and labour suppliers
- Take responsibility for site activites, including the briefing of subcontract labour, directing labour on site, collation and checking of site records and verification of site data
- Ensure understanding of the scope of work requested by our clients to support it's succesful delivery on site
- Undertake site visits and asset condition assessments
- In the office there will be opportunities to analyse and report on the data that is returned from site
- Undertake general office duties relating to the ongoing management of projects and the wider business of the trackbed team
- Supporting other internal teams during peaks in workload
- The candidate should be well motivated and practical as the role will involve both office and site based activities. You will be trained in the investigation techniques used, in all of the H&S related aspects of the work and also in how to work with the data collected from site to present to our clients.
Most of the work will be undertaken in the UK for clients such as Network Rail and London Underground, but there may also be opportunity to travel and undertake this type of work for clients overseas. There will be a requirement to work nights and weekends, including hotel stays – enhanced pay over the base salary compensates unsociable working. *Minimum Requirements:
- Preferably have experience or familiarity with railway engineering but this is not essential;
- PTS / other rail competencies would be an advantage;
- Good organisation and communication skills are essential along with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work;
- Motivated to achieve targets and a good team player;
- Flexible approach to availability and willing to work nights and weekends, including some hotel stays (pay is enhanced for unsociable working);
- Ability to read maps and plans;
- Ability to make quick decisions;
- Must be computer / Microsoft Office proficient;
- Driving licence.
*Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSE level Maths and English at grade C or above and 2no. A Levels (Grade A-C), or equivalent;
