As a Contractors Engineering Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:
- The engineering organisational structure on the Project is deployed and fit for purpose;
- Manage and administer all engineering deliverables on the Project;
- Undertake Client Liaison activities to support Network Rails Technical Requirements;
- Compliance with applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements/specifications;
- Lead for Quality management and driving quality initiatives on Projects and feed into Regional data collection;
- Control of quality assurance, document control and asset management process; Management of Systems Safety Engineering (CSM RE&A, Eis T&C, Systems Integration);
- Design delivery is integrated with construction to meet programme and budget;
- Management and demonstration of health, safety and sustainability by design;
- Deliver an effective technical change briefings;
- Ensure effective design & engineering risk management on Projects;
- Accountable for the submission of all Project designs for acceptance;
- Endorse AFC documentation, Designer, Checker CRE/CEM signatures prior to use;
- Satisfactory application and compliance of Temporary Works Management;
- Issue of Engineering Compliance Certificates - designs, build, testing/commissioning;
- Regular design progress reviews are held and recorded;
- Management of design delivery and provision of regular design status reports to the Project lead;
- Design/s are assured to the correct level of checking independence and approved;
- Engineering resource and any mentoring training and briefing requirements are carried out;
- All site-engineering controls are planned and delivered to facilitate construction;
- Approve/or set up delegated signatories for the issue of Construction Phase Plans & Work Package Plans;
- Lead and support tenders and technical solutions;
- Ensure Group Minimum Engineering Expectations are met on Project;
- Ensure the safety integrity of all activities undertaken by the staff you are responsible for;
- Deliver the design to specification and programme;
- Develop & foster right first time approach within the team against relevant standards and project specification;
- Manage project costs against budget and ensure robust records to support this.
The following qualities and experience are essential:
- Multi-disciplinary technical experience in Rail Projects;
- Proven experience and understanding of industry engineering management standard NR/L2/INI/02009;
- Chartered Engineer desirable, Incorporated Engineer or equivalent essential;
- Thorough knowledge of railway engineering and operations;
- Knowledge and experience of systems auditing requirements;
- Knowledge of statutory railway requirements such as CSM, CDM, ROGS, RiR etc; Relationship Development aligned to customer focus;
