What's the offer?

Salary range AUD$ 100,000 - There is flex on this salary for the right candidate.

Exchange rate (subject to fluctuation) to GBP would be circa £51,000 - £52,000

There are big things happening across the public transport network in Perth, WA including the implementation of the Metronet which is a series of both infrastructure and station upgrades across the city.

Working for the Public Transport Authority (PTA) who are the primary supplier of public transport services across Perth, this role sits within a division called the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery Division (OMTID) on the Metronet projects.

We’re seeking a Contracts Officer - Civils and Structures

In this role you'll be carrying out inspections, audits and supervising contractors works on and off site ensuring compliance across major transport infrastructure projects.

We’ll align your knowledge of building and structural works to projects at a variety of stages.

You’ll report to an Executive Director and operate across a variety of teams providing matrix style support to multiple major projects.

Key day to day activities may include

Inspecting civil and structural works, reviewing and assessing contractor construction plans and making sure contractors are operating safely.

You’ll report on contractors progress and be a stickler for details when compiling your daily report on progress covering site activities, issues, quality, risks and mitigations.

Safety remains as always a top priority and you’ll ensure that safe working conditions have been implemented.

On the contractual side you’ll work proactively to identify any risks to delivery and suggest mitigations. Communication is key in this role and you’ll work closely with the wider project team/s to flag any variance issues.

You’ll likely be involved in contractual meetings and support the wider business advising on contractor progress. conformance and variance issues against contractual requirements.

You’ll conduct inspections for the release of hold points, witness and formally release hold points for civils works. Additionally you’ll review and assess inspection and test plans and coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning activities.

About you

It’s key that you have a background in civils work and maintenance for this Contracts Officer role.

We’re looking for you to utilise your background delivering these types of works within a major project environment

Civils works exposure could cover; earthworks, drainage works, fencing, stone pitching and rock protection, deep excavation, embankment stabilisation, and landscaping. Structural works exposure would also range across the following areas; bridge construction, retaining walls, piling and road works associated with bridges.

As someone with work site management, you’ll also have a high level of exposure to occupational health and safety too.

Experience of working in or around a live rail environment is also essential.

The other side to this role is managing the contractual / contractor relationships and obligations. You’ll be able to communicate well with stakeholders at all levels and be proactive in your approach to ensuring supplier performance and managing contractor / contractual relationships.

There will be daily and periodic reporting, so you’ll need to be detail oriented with good computer skills.

PTA are the primary supplier of public transport services across Perth, WA including Rail, bus and ferry services in the metropolitan are (Transperth), public transport services in regional centres (TransRegional) and coach and rail passenger services to regional areas (Transwa). They’re also responsible for designing, building and maintaining transport infrastructure and protecting the long-term viability of the States freight rail corridor and infrastructure.

In short the PTA is a big deal. They have a range of opportunities becoming available to work within the Office of Major Transport Division (OMTID). The division is responsible for delivering the high value and high complexity major transport projects.
