Key Responsibilities:-
My client currently has an opportunity for an Engineer in the Birmingham area for a long term contract .
As the Engineer your key responsibilities will be to:-
Deliver cost-effective design solutions that comply with HS2’s project. Reviews and assesses technical submissions from PSCs determining compliance with standards and requirements. You will be supporting the Senior Area Engineer.
Support PSCs, drawing on expertise from within HS2 informing and supporting the min delivering design work that complies with requirements.
To identify and assess design risks within the project.
To ensure technical submissions comply with the accepted format and design requirements.
To provide technical engineering input, designs, documentation and responses supporting the hybrid bill through parliament including additional provisions, freedom of information requests, and technical requests.
To attend public consultation and planning forums, working with local communities identifying priorities.
To support Senior Area Engineer in liaising with external stakeholders fully capturing their input and balance that with the overall HS2 business and technical requirements.
To explore opportunities for developing local community benefits and solutions under the direction of the Area Manager.
Key Skills, Experience of :-
Engineering design principles achieving optimal design outputs.
Carrying out independent checks on a wide variety of designs and produce, interpret and assess specifications, standards and technical reports.
Resolving complex design problems, demonstrating an approach of tackling problems whilst maintaining attention to detail. Establishing and maintaining a working relationship with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders. Communicating, engaging e and influencing a variety of external stakeholders at public forums.
Having strong written and spoken communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
Planning and organising, delivering under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Extensive experience of design and engineering, ranging from feasibility to detail design, working on a large, complex infrastructure project.
Consultant management and compliance.
Qualifications Required:-
Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Achieved or working towards professional member status.
