Lineside Civils Construction Manager

What is the purpose of this role?
This person will manage the delivery of lineside civils scope for Track and Electrification Team on the Transpire Alliance. They will assist the Project Manager in delivering allocated contract safely in accordance with legislation and Amey procedures to contract specification and programme, while effectively supervising and delivering the approved construction programmes to the agreed resource and cost plans.
Responsibilities
- To assist the PM in development of the Target Cost proposal for ancillary civils works within the Alliance projects.
- Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective construction management service to the client, including management of subcontractors, monitoring construction outputs and providing reporting systems in accordance with the Transpire Alliance processes.
- To manage all lineside civils construction activities for their team, including overseeing supply chain and subcontract elements.
- To monitor and improve / develop competence of the delivery team, including supply chain and subcontractors.
- Responsible for the collating and analysing site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable.
- Attendance to routine planning/integration meetings.
- Periodic undertaking of toolbox talks, task briefs.
- Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working.
- Responsible for ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices.
- Responsible for ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely off hire.
- Manage sub-contractors, contract staff and direct labour for allocated site activities.
- Carry out performance reviews for supply chain, subcontractors and direct reports. Escalation of poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable.
- The role is one of resource, supply chain and subcontract management and based generally in an office/desktop environment. There is, however, a requirement of the role to attend site on a periodic basis (including night time working and weekend hours).
- Provide input and support to the PM to identify project risks/opportunities and mitigation solutions were applicable.
- Maximise operating efficiency, so that projects are delivered to agreed standards and target costs.
- Support PM in ensuring that all change is recognised, assessed, agreed and documented.
- To provide input into the creation of all necessary engineering site documentation (programmes, WPP, TB’s etc.)
- To actively participate in, and engage with, external (e.g. ORR, Client) and internal (e.g. Amey and Transpire) audits.
- Ability to manage and maintain multiple progress trackers.
- Ability to identify issues and escalate at the appropriate level

- This role will comply with all relevant Network Rail Standards, Amey Group Standards and procedures, British Standards and European standards, as applicable to the role and activities undertaken.

- IOSH safety qualification (or equivalent)

- Valid UK driving license
- Solid commercial governance experience
- Ability to provide project forecasts and actual reports
- Good proven track record of managing supply chain and sub contractors
