Principal Civil Engineer

This is a permanent opportunity to join a leading Civils and Infrastructure firm working in their Civils team in Birmingham as a Principal Civil Engineer. The said consultancy are also open to experienced Senior to Associate level Civil Engineers.

As a Principal Engineer, you will work alongside a team of specialist engineers and technicians as well as colleagues across varying engineering disciplines to ensure the delivery of technically-leading and profitable projects. You will be expected to take responsibility for all design aspects across varying project scales in the infrastructure division within the built environment.

You will be expected to take a project from inception, through detailed design to delivery and completion. Part of this would involve checking designs, calculations and specifications to ensure they meet relevant standards and adoption agreements. It would be extremely helpful to the candidate to have understanding and experience of industry-standard software, such as Civils3D, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage to help create and comment on construction designs.

This would be an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing to progress their professional skills, as you will receive more responsibility and autonomy as these develop. Furthermore, you will also be supported towards Chartered status if not already achieved.

Job Specification:
- Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering design
- BSc or BEng qualified and Chartered (or working towards Chartership)
- Expertise in infrastructure, highways and drainage design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects from concept, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction
- Experience dealing with adoption agreements for roads and drainage
- Expert in the use of relevant industry-standard design software packages
- Experience of dealing with clients and other members of the professional team
- An ability to communicate effectively, writing clear and concise emails, letters and reports
- A good commercial awareness and experience of managing day to day project finances and instructions
- An ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

The said consultancy are open to candidates from an experienced Senior to Associate level to join their Civils team in Birmingham on a permanent basis.
