My client, a leading multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure contractor, is looking for a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join their expanding Design teams in the Midlands/North East.

Candidate Responsibilities:
- Undertaking general measurement surveys of sites as required and proposing likely works to the wider construction team for discussion and agreement.
- Inputting into large multidisciplinary tenders, both pricing of design elements and into written technical submissions.
- Conducting outline design and detailing of rail civil infrastructure providing accurate and appropriate imagery. Produce details, specifications and calculations for retaining walls, pad foundations, piled foundations, steelwork elements, RC concrete slabs and masonry walls.
- Contractors Responsible Engineer's duties in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009.
- Liaising with AutoCAD technicians in the production of drawings.
- Submission of quality design documents in accordance with NR/L2/CIV/003, collating the key components as appropriate for inclusion.
- Producing accurate designers risk assessments using a wide variety of forms.
- Providing weekly reports outlining work plans, forecasts and key achievements.
- Recording and tracking documents via the centralised document control system and monitoring adherence to a quality assurance at all times.
- Maintaining full understanding of commercial aspects of the project and ensuring appropriate cost control measures.
Candidate Requirements:
- A degree in civil or Structural engineering.
- A structural engineer experienced in the design and detail of substructure and superstructure solutions in a railway environment including CRE role.
- An ability to work as part of an integrated design team and undertake instructions from the Design Office Manager.
- Articulate with excellent communication skills: able to explain reasoning to a wider audience and adjust approach where needed to take a wider perspective.
- Network Rail PTS
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
- Good attention to detail with a professional outlook.
- Experience of project engagement at GRIP Stages 3 to 8
- Working towards professional membership
- Demonstrable management of all commercial aspects - cost and value.
