Principal/Senior Civil Engineer

This is a permanent position to join a leading Civils and Infrastructure firm in their Civils team in Oxford (Didcot) working as a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer.

As a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for site appraisals and feasibility studies, including pre-application planning advice, technical support for planning applications, and discharging planning applications. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the creation and documentation of pre-planning reports such as Flood Risk Assessments, Foul Drainage & Utility Assessments. Lastly, you must be able to prepare detailed design information of construction, as well as have a keen motivation to train and mentor other junior staff and technicians.

You will be expected to take a project from inception, through detailed design to delivery and completion. Part of this would involve checking designs, calculations and specifications to ensure they meet relevant standards and adoption agreements. It would be extremely helpful to the candidate to have understanding and experience of industry-standard software, such as Civils3D, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage to help create and comment on construction designs.

Job Specification:
-          Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering design
-          BSc or BEng qualified and Chartered (or working towards Chartership)
-          Expertise in infrastructure, highways and drainage design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects from concept, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction
-          Experience dealing with adoption agreements for roads and drainage
-          Expert in the use of relevant industry-standard design software packages
-          Experience of dealing with clients and other members of the professional team
-          An ability to communicate effectively, writing clear and concise emails, letters and reports
-          A good commercial awareness and experience of managing day to day project finances and instructions
-          An ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
