Senior Civil Engineer (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 6 Months

Location: Remote but some attendance in Manchester each month

As a Senior Civil Engineer your main key responsibilities would be to:

• Undertake the reviewing of examination reports including risk scoring and recommendations, checking that reports are compiled and submitted in accordance with Network Rail standards and forwarded for STE1 review.
• Work as a member of a central CEFA Reviewing Engineer pool to maximise resource utilisation and alleviate peak and backlog issues nationally.
• Take a unified approach to reviewing, in line with the technical specification and in the application of risk scoring.
• Undertake site checks/audits for both examination report quality and BCMI compliance and provide data to the Examining Engineer for KPI monitoring.
• Schedule examinations, inspections, monitoring and assessment of structures assets and the evaluation of the reports in accordance with functional policy, systems and standards. Implement mitigation measures where proposed management actions are deferred.
• Specify and prioritise actions to address defects, comments and other issues raised in the reports, in accordance with standards and functional policy, for inclusion in work plans. Oversee the development, implementation and handover of prioritised work items to realise the required outputs. Produce route specific and asset type management regimes, and progress mitigations if items are deferred.
• Undertake engineering analysis and risk assessments of assets or asset components to support the asset management process and scheme development, including business cases and whole life cost analysis.
  
  

Essential:

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Substantial relevant experience in structures or civil engineering.
• Network Rail STE2 Competence.
• A sound knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards.
• Knowledge of Structures Assessment.
• An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
• Attained or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
