Role: Senior Civil Estimator / Cost Consultant
Location: East Sussex
Rate: £45 - £55 per hour
Initial Term: 3 months

I am looking to place an experienced Estimator/Cost Consultant in an international consultancys office in East Sussex, working on local authority highways maintenance schemes. Your role will be to assist the commercial team in the production of the Target Costs for the maintenance schemes and the costing of Compensation Events for the ongoing maintenance contract.

The contract covers all maintenance and upgrade schemes for the Carriageway, Structures, Street Lighting, Safety Fencing, Traffic Signals, etc and you will be able to produce Target Cost estimates that reflect the anticipated costs of carrying out the works and associated risks. You will be required to present these TCs for adjudication and approval from project directors and council stakeholders alongside working with the councils commercial team to discuss and clarify any issues raised. Ideally, the firm are after individuals who have worked on highways / civil maintenance contracts before, not just buildings construction projects. 

You will also work with a large and varied team of designers and project managers to ensure that correct TCs are produced and that required timelines are met. Likewise, you will also be associated to negotiate with supply chain partners over various aspects of the maintenance and upgrade scheme whilst maintaining accurate records of cost estimates and ensuring that projects run to required budgets.

Initially, this role is set for 3 months, but the firms ongoing contract with East Sussex Highways has over 6 years left on it and it is likely that the role will extend well beyond the initial term.

Job Requirements:

• HNC or Degree-educated with Civil Engineering Cost Consultancy background
• Mix of Estimating/QS/Cost Consultancy experience in Civil Engineering, Highways, Drainage, Street Lighting, Road Markings, etc
• Ability to negotiate with suppliers
• Ability to negotiate with local authority stakeholders
