To be suitable for the position you must have;

- Min. 5 years post graduate work experience within Civil/Structural discipline in rail sector
- Strong working knowledge of railway lineside structures in both steel and RC design such as signal gantry, signal post, REBs, LOCs, steel footbridge, concrete foundations, piled foundations, sheet pile retaining wall, cable route management system, structural buildings.
- Able to work independently under minimal direction
- Experience of multi-disciplinary design coordination
- Min. grade of 2.1 MEng degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations
- Excellent time keeping and time management
- Excellent communication skills
- Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or working towards CEng qualification
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Eurocodes, Network Rail, Railway Group and British Standards
- Proficient in Tekla Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer (2D/3D frame) design suites
- Working experience in Geosolve/WALLAP design suite for earth retaining structures

Role Information;

- Ensuring that design, construction and maintenance risks are identified and mitigated during the design stages
- Ensuring Value Engineering through Particular Specification reviews
- Attend Inter-Disciplinary Checks and constructability reviews as directed
- Carry out design checking
- Adequately communicate and explain designs to the construction teams
- Managing design deliverables and assisting in the delivery of project related tasks to meet budget, programme and quality targets on various projects
- Comply with varying design standards ensuring all deliverables are compliant
- Liaise with colleagues, other departments and project teams with respect to design requirements
