Leading main contracting organisation with a long history of delivering building and civils project in the UK rail industry seeks to employ a Senior Planning Engineer to join their team in London.

Reporting into a very supportive and proactive Head of Planning & Project Controls, the Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for planning a variety of building and civils projects valued between £100,000 to £30million around London and the South East. You will work in collaboration with a close-knit programme team including Project Managers, clients, Stakeholders and designers.

Responsibilities:

• Developing, producing and updating programmes for multiple projects across a range of disciplines
• Working with the Head of Planning to publish regular four weekly updates of the entire framework.
• Following the principles adopted within the framework for producing programmes whilst suggesting ways they could be improved
• Applying resources including costs to programmes
• Working with the estimators and delivery team so as to produce programmes that are commercially attractive to the client.
• Working with the project managers, site managers and commercial managers to ensure that all change is captured in the programme.
• Helping the team to identify and evaluate the risks within the project, not only with regards to planning, but the project as a whole.
• Working within a small team to deliver a significant amount of planning output will require the ability to form good working relationships, a flexible attitude and a willingness to adapt to change.
• Developing relationships with other teams to ensure that we share resources, innovation, and process to deliver efficiently as one.

To be considered for the role of Senior Planning Engineer candidates will have:

• Experience of working on building and civils projects within a Network Rail environment
• An excellent knowledge developed over time in applying planning software to create clear, comprehensible and realistic programmes.
• The ability to plan from first principles
• Proven ability in using P6 Primavera planning software, a working knowledge of other planning software such as MS-Project or Asta Powerproject
• Experience in using MS-Office to support in producing robust planning solutions
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good level of NEC3 knowledge, and knowledge of how it should be applied to the contract programme
• Understanding of construction design
• Good level of IT skills.
